Mobile Phone as Car Remote – Intelligent key from Nissan

Billions of cell phones in use, and the mobile is no longer a “make a call device”. Not just games and apps,  mobile revoluion is actually cropping up to the next level. How about using your mobile phone as your car remote? Meet the mobile fragment of Nissan’s Intelligent Key system. The automobile industry seems to be taking real advantage of the technology.

Nissan is known for the sophistication and also the innovation that is incorporated in the four wheel monsters. Spicing up the innovation is the new technology from the Nissan Motor in hand with the NTT DOCOMO, INC. and Sharp Corporation. The trio came up with a mobile phone with the intelligence housed to talk with automobiles. The intelligent key for automobiles is the first of its kind in the world. The mobile phone as such was built by sharp, there is equal participation from the other two parties for the upshot of this third generation device.

The mobile phone can now be used to lock unlock doors and also to start/ kill the engine. The phone will now be showcased and presented in the CEATEC Japan 2008 on September 30 2009. The mobile phone is only optional as manual entry is still is also possible.

While apple has been toying the idea of using the iphone as a remote for the mac and or other devices, the car remote field seems to be a quite a big market ahead. The amalgamation is possible only if the car manufacturers step inside the ring and collaborate with application developers.

The Mobile Phone with Built-in Intelligent Key is still in prototype. Models available only in Japan.

    You can always use both the manual as well as the car mobile remote. So, if you lose you r mobile, its not the end of the world.
