Will iphone Rule the Mobile Internet?

Apple iphone is a buzz word and with the launch of iphone 3G, apple has affirmed its foot clearly in the smartphone war. With the iphone 3G, it is possible to use your iphone to access the web using wi-fi as well as 3G networks. Safari is another trump card and the user interface is getting better and better despite so many complaints of the absence of the copy-paste feature. Will iphone rule the mobile internet?

When the iphone primary version was launched, it promised to be the first mobile device that could near, though not challenge a pc experience. Around Christmas, it surpassed all other mobile devices to be the leading mobile gadget that sent maximum traffic to google. Competition is healthy and other gadgets came catching up. Apple iphone and ipod claim to have almost 0.48% of the entire internet traffic. That is mammoth in comparison since no other device has got even 0.1% of the traffic.

With some websites like engadget reporting that around 96% of the mobile traffic sprung from iphone/ipod devices, no other device seems to be in the race. Apple has nearly broken the challenge to sell 10 million iphones this year. In fact its September and they have sold 8 million already and soon the world will be flooded with iphones. Will there be a iphone killer or is it going to ALL apple all the way?

The closest mimics are not close enough in the race (Sometimes clearly outwitted in the race). Samsung instinct and HTC diamond . In fact, mashable has got a very strong opinion that there are no iphone killers.

Apple seems to be hungry in selling iphones and the bar has been raised to sell 12 million by the end of 2008. With the innovation and research apple is capable of, the iphone can capture and reign the mobile internet for ever.

Time to get a mac???

Even with the introduction of the Gphone and Storm, iPhone still looking dominant … it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few years. The iPhone is clearly benefitting from the strength of it’s App Store, which competitors are no where near. Nice write-up, thank you!
