Samsung Omnia SGH-i900

Smartphone market saw a new comer in the form of samsung Omnia. In a variegated array of products from samsung, Samsung seems to have placed its bet on the Samsung Omnia SGH-i900 as the ideal competitor to the iphone, tmobile g1 and other smart phones. A review of the samsung Omnia i900. Will the samsung OMNIA mobile bet win?

Looks first :

The sleek and metallic body houses a 3.2″ TFT display and is quite thin 12.5mm, considering the fact that there is no keyboard. Actual samsung omnia dimensions – (112 x 56 x 12.5 mm) The screen display boasts a resolution of 240 x 400 and no one would even come near calling it unwieldy at the silver bexel. Pretty good at appearance.

Software :

Samsung Omnia runs on a windows mobile 6.1 professional platform. The system is a full touch sensitive and TOUCHWIZ UI technology. The smart device is capable of playing almost all formats in both audio as well as video.[ Samsung omina supported audio formats : Mp3, AAC, AAC+, WMA, AMR, OGG.] The system typically is in the height of video playbacks. It can play most formats and the video and sound clarity is awesome. [ Samsung omina supported video formats : Divx, Xvid, WMV, MP4, H.263, H.264 ]. The device is blessed with a 16GB internal memory and a provision for microSDHC in samsung omnia upto 16GB.

Business :

Samsung Omnia SGH i900 is more than a phone as per the caption in that it would fit good enough for a power user. The Applications that can be accessed on samsung omnia include a full office suite, push email, Business card recognition, and even TV output. Sharing with other systems seems to be a bit obscure, though claimed possible.

Connectivity :

Omnia from samsung mobile is baked with a USB 2.0, bluetooth and also wifi features. While 3G networks will still render the omnia less useful, we still feel, it can do a good job with the costlier 3G network prices. Also, Samsung Omnia comes with no contact, no strings attached. Just a mobile!!

Other features :

Relative to the competitors, samsung is quite the best when it comes to screen clarity and camera. Samsung Omnia camera (5MP) is capable of auto focus and also is bound with a power LED. There is also a FM radio with RDS. The camera is also capable of GPS intelligence. The battery also lasts for pretty long.

Keyboard :

The system houses a virtual keyboard, like the iphone, while the tmobile g1 houses a full keyboard. Samsung widgets enable the ease of operations with a very innovative drag and drop feature. This feature makes launching applications very easy and in the fastest time.

Price :

You can always find a cheaper price for a good product at my favorite store – amazon. Buy the Samsung Omnia I900 16GB at just $720. There is also the Samsung i900 Omnia 8GB for a cheaper price, $650.
