Technology in Ford - Parental Control - MYKEY
- 2 Comment
Technology has enabled to produce cars faster and has helped man reach destinations faster. But has technology played its part in security in automobiles? Ford takes the first steps in parental controls in a car with the mykey. Parents will now be able to restrict the speed of a car, alongside other options.
Teens who have just acquired their license tend to drive faster, especially during vacations, thanks to motivation from Holywood. In the latest of automobile technology aided by software, Ford has become the pioneer of myKey, which lets parents limit the maximum speed of a car. In a prototypical setup, mykey from ford will let parents set a speed limit of 80mph. Additionally, parents will also be able to set warnings when the speed approaches 45, 55 or 65 mph.
Besides speed, parents will also be able to control the volume of the speakers, ideally to even 44% of the maximum output. In other parental controls as good measures, the system will be capable of giving off warning sirens, when the seat belts are not on. These systems will be first incorporated in the ford focus, though the innovators claim that the system will soon be transported to almost all cars in a couple of years. The tentative release is by 2010 only.
In a list, the new features of my key will include
1. Max speed limit - 80 mph
2. Speed warnings when speed approaches 45, 55 or 65 mph
3. Seat belt on siren
4. Volume control - set 44% of maximum.
