Sony Ericsson W595 – W595a Review
On a comparison of mobile phones, sony ericcson seems to have a numero uno spot when it comes to stylish user interface and the perfect camera. The output quality of music really stuns a first timer. Sony Ericcson W595a seems to the perfect phone with a lot of new features integrated like shake control, Music recognition, in built gaming, Walk Mate and Sense me.
Looks First :
Sony Ericcson W595 is a slider phone with a decent big size TFT screen but no touch technology though. The slider opens a full numpad and the front panel houses basic navigation keys, along with a joystick. Sony Ericcson W595a is available in 5 colors, Active Blue, Cosmopolitan White (shown in image below), Jungle Grey, Lava Black, Ruby Black. Sony eirccson specifications of 47.0 x 100.0 x 14.0 mm and a weight of just 104g, the phone looks pretty sleek and light.
Camera
Just like another make from sony Ericcson, the Sony Ericcson W595 has a integrated camera with 3.2MP and 2.5x zoom capabilities. There is very good support for geo-tagging and additionally a good integrated photo editor, to adjust the basic effects like brightness and sharpness. Taking the video revolution in camera to the next level, sony ericsson W595 provides excellent video recording and a video blogging promise. Other features include photo blogging and photo subscriptions.
Internet
With WAP browser inbuilt, the internet browsing experinece is good, though the touch interface would have made browsing a lot more like the desktop experince. Also good support for 3G networks, and no mentioned support for wifi (to be clarified, but could have been missed, because it is a basic specification), the netfront browser seems to be well equipped. Support for google maps is inbuilt, which you could have guessed from the photo geo tagging. You can also browse while you are talking and there seems to be excellent support for video conderencing and RSS feeds. Photo RSS feeds are also present.
Business and connectivity
Not the best of business models, the business users tend to stay away from most models from sony ericcson. But sony is listening, and good support for email, chatting and instant messaging is housed in to the sony ericsson W595. No support for document creation, readers of any kind. But syncing between computer and your phone seems easy with the inbuilt sync features. There is also support for direct printing from phone, but without documents, it is confusing, “what would you want to print?”
Music and entertainment
With business users finding the sony ericsson W595 below par, people looking for music and entertainment will find sony ericsson W595 a god given phone. The best of the phones will find it hard to compete with sony ericsson W595 in terms of music. With album art, shake control and the TrackID, you have features to visualize, control and download new songs. Also there are a few intelligent systems like the SenseMe, which plays music according to the mood. The latest of the technologies involve you recording a song and sony will recognize the song for you. There are also a few 3D games in addition to the java games.
Memory
With very good support for Downloading music, the internal memory seems a bit disappointing in the Sony Ericcson W595a with only 2GB, relative to today’s standards. However this is expandable with a Memory Stick Micro. Sony Ericcson W595a also boasts a 9 hours talk time.
