“Apple Quality” is a term often mentioned to tag products or services with the best ranking, and I would label Snow Leopard as another Apple quality product. One of the best things about upgrading to snow leopard is that, you get a extremely smooth upgrade from Leopard. With drastic performance improvements and a few good features, Snow Leopard is a upgrade to go for, at just $25!!

The first and foremost factor, which you would consider in Snow Leopard is the 64 bit support, which means you utilize your already capable hardware and processors to a better extent. Startup time, and shutdown time has improved tremendously. In a general note, most applications run faster and better in a 64 bit environment.
While apple OSX has always been termed as one of the most secure operating systems ever, there has been some lethargic moves from apple, like leaving the firewall open in certain releases of Leopard. Many users attribute the lack of security threats to the magnitude of the user base [about 10%]. Snow Leopard has taken additional efforts to add malware checks to disk images, in addition to the already existing malware check capabilities of the Safari browser. Apple has added this to the already strong and secure operating system and does not want a single threat like a virus attack to infect millions of macs around the planet.

Quick Time Updated
While Snow Leopard was actually built for fine tuning the already awesome operating system, there were a few good improvements in software like Quicktime X. Quicktime X adds a lot of new features like easy import to other formats, Video recording, panoramic video playback and much more, it is surprising to see that the entire software was built for scratch. Apple has also loaded Quick time X with a good http live streaming refinement and also improves launch time by 2.4 times.
With load of other improvements and features like easy PDF selection, Automatic updates for printer drivers, improved safari, disk ejection, file sharing, expose, service menu and many others, Snow Leopard is a Must upgrade for all mac users.
